ARE YOU NICHE???????

In 2026, everyone wants to be niche. Everyone wants to be so different that we all end up being the same. Some people define their personalities by liking something no one else likes or liking something before anyone else does. Some people pretend to like something just to be different. Now, I can be a culprit of this…but I don't think it is a bad thing all of the time.
I think that it is wonderful to embrace being different from the next person. Learning to celebrate what makes you unique is so important and it births a new found confidence when you know what makes you different! However some people use this as a tool to make themselves feel as though they are better than the next. Which in my eyes, is when it takes a turn.
I have encountered a few people in my time whose entire personality seems to be revolving around liking things they think are different or exclusive. Which is a dangerous game. Because with these kinds of people, when they introduce something in that way, and find that others have similar taste, they tend to hold it against them.
Like, ‘I’m cool because I know this and you will never live up to how cool I am because I will have always known it first’.
It’s like they ask the mirror every morning if they are the ‘nichest’ of them all.
And they only are interested in certain things because it makes them ‘niche’, not because they actually like it. And I heavily dislike that attitude. Because I believe that sharing interests is such a beautiful way to connect with people.
Understanding and acknowledging my friends' interests or the ‘niche’ things that they like is my love language. And vice versa. So what I don’t like is when people take advantage of that and put a negative damper on it. Because really no one is ‘niche’.
What you like, a million other people also like. We all have our own interests that make us special; In the same way that we all have our own unique fingerprints! And we all have things that we would love to learn more about! And I don’t think that should ever be negative!
Because literally who cares, being niche isn’t real.
